Intro

Welcome to my blog! I have never really journaled or blogged before so I apologize in advanced if this turns out craptastic. Don't mind the horrible spelling, lack of proper grammar, and general butchery of the English language. My teachers would be so proud.

I started this blog to share my experiences during my first year as a Registered Nurse (Murse). I am excited to finally be done with 4 long years of school and ready to start working. During nursing school I got my EMT-Basic and then took a job as a cardiac monitor tech. I am an EKG geek and love interpreting rhythms. I was lucky enough to get a job right out of school unlike some new grads who will spend months trying to land a job. I will be working on a cardiac care / telemetry unit in a ~500 bed community hospital. I have always enjoyed cardiac and think it will be a great floor to start on. Eventually I would like to get into critical care but we will see what happens.

About my screen name: Ever heard of Ventricular Flutter? I am guessing not but it actually is a rhythm. It is more of an academic distinction that really isn't used in clinical practice. It is that transition between Ventricular Tachycardia and Ventricular Fibrillation where the heart is stuck in the middle, neither VT nor VF, just a sine wave. It is short lived and only lasts a moment before spiraling into fibrillation. It's mesmerizing in a sick twisted way. As amazing as it is I wouldn't suggest starring at the monitor during a code waiting for it to happen. You probably have more important shit to do at that point. Oh and I also wouldn't be like "hey, call a code! This guy is in V Flutter!", you will most likely get a lot of "Da fuq?" Looks.
